Hazardous wastes are all flammable, combustible, explosive and toxic wastes that threaten both human and environmental health. In the context of the Hazardous Waste Recycling Regulation, hazardous waste materials are separated into different classes.
Many hazardous waste or hazardous chemical materials are risk-reduced and processed for reuse. Recycling is possible after some of the hazardous materials are passed through the right processes.
What are Hazardous Wastes?
Hazardous materials are identified by the waste code 150110. Hazardous wastes; paint cans, chemical containers, oil cans and barrels are defined as flammable, combustible and environmentally harmful packaging.
Oil-contaminated wastes formed during the processing and shaping of metals are classified as hazardous waste.
Wastes such as cloths and gloves contaminated with dangerous substances, and oil filters from machinery and maintenance are also in this class.
Old batteries and accumulators, electrical work machinery wastes, energy storage plants are classified as hazardous waste.
Cable wastes containing oil are also among hazardous wastes with the waste code 170410.
How to Recycle Hazardous Waste?
Recycling processes of hazardous wastes can only be carried out in recycling facilities that have an environmental permit licensed by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization.
The recycling process of hazardous waste proceeds as follows.
- Hazardous wastes are analyzed. With the approval of waste acceptance, wastes are prepared.
- The prepared wastes are loaded into the vehicle by the driver and assistant personnel in an appropriate manner.
- After the loading, necessary actions are taken through the Transport Request opened via the Waste Management Application (TABS/KDS) within the Integrated Environmental Information System (ECIS).
- The transportation process of packaging wastes in cosmetics, paint, agriculture, chemistry, petroleum, food, textile raw materials, leather and leather products, auto industry, mining, energy, iron, steel, packaging, metal, pharmaceutical and pharmaceutical sectors is carried out by wastes with ADR .
- The wastes brought to the waste treatment facilities are downloaded to the landfill by using appropriate techniques. Wastes are stored in accordance with their codes in the landfill.
- Non-recyclable wastes are separated.
- IBC tanks, cans, plastic drums, steel drums and bucket wastes are categorized and stored.
- Wastes that are subjected to storage according to their class are sent to the technological separation and recovery facility for recycling.
- Separation and disposal of waste materials are carried out by machines.
